November is the start of a pretty stressful time for many of us. The holidays tend to turn simple things into much bigger ones. It is also the start of my favorite time of year. I realize that those two statements contradict each other but love it or hate it the holiday season is here, I personally choose the joy!
Normally it means a slow down at my "day job", hotel sales, and a huge push for family pictures. Of course, 2020 is anything but normal so who knows what is going to happen! Without a doubt, I know that the increase push for time with my family, gift shopping, and baking (love it) are going to make posting consistently on my social platforms even harder to do. Now more than most months my posts need to have a strategy and a purpose or why even bother.
To me, that just increases the need for a plan. If this is your first month joining me for the “posting with a purpose caboodle” formally known as the monthly posting challenge, you are in for a treat! If you are wondering why the name change it is simple. It occurred to me that the whole idea was to take the “challenge” out of your social media posting efforts. What I really do each month is offering a caboodle (defined as a large number of things) in this case post ideas, suggestions, and social media tips to help you increase your engagement, improve your consistency and reduce the stress caused by your DIY social media marketing strategy.
Each month I share a day by day posting guide that should give you a starting point for your own social media. This is pretty generic so as to help you no matter what industry you work in and can and should be adapted to fit you. Each day has a theme but please feel free to move it around any way you would like. Maybe sales post on Sundays doesn’t work for your audience. That is cool, try a different day and see how they do. Also if you don’t want to post every day, don’t, but I highly recommend a consistent schedule. If not every day maybe always post on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
What are the daily themes you ask? Good question see the list below. I have made a few tweaks since last month but not many. Hey if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?
Monday: Motivational Quote- Quotes do so well on social media so they are a great way to boost your post engagements and attract new followers. Think about your dream client, what do you think would help motivate them on a Monday? Do a simple google search and you will find so many to choose from. #quoteoftheday #motivation #letsdothis
Tuesday: Tantalizing Tuesday Tips
– Share a tip your dream clients will appreciate. Tips about your business, industry-related tips, or even tips about topics that are more personal focused (if your dream client will respond to that). You can do these as videos, infographics, or just a nice long how to post. Have fun with it. #tiptuesday #tips
Wednesday: What we do Wednesday. This is not a sales pitch but more of a show and tell, share a product or service. This could be a detailed post on why your product or service is beneficial, how to use it, who needs it, or even a demo. Try creating a slide show video on Canva. #whatwedowednesday #checkthisout
Thursday: Throw Back Thursday- Back Behind the scenes I mean. Don’t overthink this one, if you have got nothing going on worth sharing, share something anyway. Coffee break, I see a selfie opportunity. Writing a report, desk shot. Wishing you had a better idea for lunch then tuna again? Create a post and ask for ideas for tomorrow. #BTS #behindthescences #showme
Friday: Fri-YAY! Come on Brag a little. A humblebrag is not a bad thing, I don’t care what grandma told you. Share some love this could be in the form of client testimonials, selfies with clients or even sharing a big accomplishment you are particularly proud of. Share the love you receive with the rest of your followers; nothing works better than social proof to show others all the awesomeness you have to offer. You can do this easily with a pretty graphic, a simple screenshot, or even just repost a client’s post about you. #fri-Yay #sharethelove #thanks
Saturday: Saturday Selfie - post a selfie and share a little bit about you. You could also choose to share a picture of your family, dog or favorite taco just make the post personal. Personalizing what you do helps create connections and build trust! #saturdayselfie
Sunday: Show Me - Sell me - Sunday- post your current offer, promotion, or deal. #mysmallbusiness #saletime. Ok I change the name a little, if you have been following along I decided that sell me something Sunday wasn’t working for me. Same concept though. Post a sales post, people cannot buy from you if they do not know what you are selling.
So here is November's caboodle with a post suggestion for every day of the month and more.

You can also print out my fun Coboodle calendar by clicking the button below.
This month I included a blank calendar so you can fill in your own ideas too. Print it and keep in near your desk so you can refer back to it whenever you need to.
It is the National Month of gratitude. Every year for the last few years I have seen people posting a daily gratefulness post in November. Why not drive engagement, build up some content, and connect with your followers using this idea. Start gathering some “user-generated content” by asking your clients, employees, and hey even your friends what they are grateful for or what they love most about the holiday season.
Collect pictures, selfies, and videos. You can ask them via email or do it in person. You could even make a contest out of it with a little creativity. Then with their permission, you can share this content on your social media sites. Not only will this give you some unique content it will also show the human side of what you do.
Maybe you could do something silly but simple like one of those copy & paste then reshare posts. “I am most grateful for coffee! My letter was C, play along this should be fun! In the comments, name one thing you are grateful for that starts with the letter H After you comment on this post I will give you a letter so you can see what your friends are grateful for too”
I would love to hear what posts have been the most successful for you? Leave a comment below.
